World Travel Market 2024 Updates

On the second day of the World Travel Market 2024, Zimbabwe’s Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Hon. Barbara Rwodzi, participated in the 18th Ministers’ Summit, held in partnership with UN Tourism and the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC). She joined fellow tourism ministers and influential leaders to explore the transformative role of AI and emerging technologies in reshaping the travel and hospitality sectors.
Minister Rwodzi emphasized Zimbabwe’s heritage-focused approach to tourism, stressing the importance of human interaction where technology is not essential to preserve an authentic cultural experience for tourists. She also highlighted the potential of AI in wildlife tourism, suggesting that predictive algorithms could optimize wildlife sightings, with smart tour vehicles enhancing visitor experiences by timing wildlife viewings while preventing overcrowding.
