UN Tourism Ministers’ Summit | Germany

The future of Global Tourism is being written and Zimbabwe is emerging as a trailblazer. Ahead of the grand opening of ITB Berlin, Ministers of Tourism across the globe gathered for the UN Tourism Ministers’ Summit under the theme “Empowering Emerging Destinations: From Potential to Performance,” hosted by the UN Tourism Secretary General Ms Shaikha Al Nowais. The Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Hon Barbara Rwodzi highlighted Africa’s Tourism surge, with 80 million International Arrivals and US$55 billion in receipts in 2025 and proudly noted Zimbabwe’s 10% growth to 1,777,569 arrivals, driven by strengthened destination confidence, strategic infrastructure upgrades and community-led initiatives such as Gastronomy Tourism.

She emphasized Regional Cooperation through the Kavango Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA), called for improved Inter- and Intra-Regional connectivity, and stressed critical enablers including innovation, skills development clear policies, and strong Government–stakeholder collaboration. With a bold vision for Sustainable Growth, Minister Rwodzi reaffirmed Zimbabwe’s commitment to Heritage-Based Tourism, empowering communities, creating jobs and positioning emerging destinations at the forefront of Global Tourism in line with Vision 2030.
