Recently crowned Destination of the Year by the Pacific Area Travel Writers Association (PATWA), Zimbabwe brought the irresistible flavours of its rich Culinary Heritage to the global stage at ITB Berlin 2026 in Berlin, Germany, captivating visitors with an unforgettable Gastronomy showcase. The Zimbabwe Stand became a hive of activity as multitudes of international visitors thronged the pavilion to savour a variety of scrumptious and mouthwatering Zimbabwe signature dishes, offering them an authentic taste of Zimbabwe. The vibrant culinary display highlighted Gastronomy as a powerful Tourism asset, with many visitors expressing keen interest in learning more about Zimbabwean cuisine, its preparation methods and the cultural stories behind the dishes, some even returning for second servings after enjoying the flavours. This unique Gastronomy Tourism initiative is the brainchild of the Patron of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Her Excellency The First Lady of the Republic of Zimbabwe Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa. As part of the Culture and Heritage Tourism Cluster, the initiative continues to position Zimbabwe’s food culture as a compelling gateway for Tourists seeking authentic experiences.
