The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority is the National Tourism Organisation  of the Republic of Zimbabwe .It is a body corporate that was established by and derives its mandate from the Tourism Act 1996 (Chapter 14:20).

ZTA is a promotional and regulatory agency whose mandate is basically to serve the national economy. The operations of the ZTA are also governed by the Public Entities Corporate Governance Act of 2018 (Chapter 10:31)

To promote Zimbabwe as a destination for tourists and to promote the tourism industry in overseas, regional and domestic markets. To develop marketing skills and initiatives within the tourism industry.

To register and grade designated tourism facilities. To promote the development of tourist facilities.Promoting high standards in the tourism industry through establishment of standards, training and human resource development.

To undertake planning for the tourist industry, including conducting market research and developing a tourism database.Promoting awareness in Zimbabwe of the benefits of tourism.

Promoting consultancy and advisory services in relation to tourism. Investigating and making recommendations to the Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry on any matter affecting the tourist industry and the administration of the Tourism Act.

Carrying out any function that may be conferred or imposed on the authority by or under the Tourism Act or any other enactment. There shall be established a National Convention Bureau (NCB) whose function is to spearhead the development and marketing of Zimbabwe as a Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Festivals, Exhibitions and Events (MICE) destination. Specifically its focus isto increase the number of events, exhibitions, conferences and meetings held in Zimbabwe, to encourage business travel to and in Zimbabwe, to provide a one-stop-shop for independent information and assistance and advice on all aspects of hosting and organizing conventions and business events in Zimbabwe
