Cultural pride, Culinary excellence and jubilant celebrations converged at United College of Education in Bulawayo as the 2026 Amai’s Traditional Cookout Competition unfolded into a testament to Zimbabwe’s rich Cultural identity. The Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Hon Tongai Mnangagwa, officiated at the event, affirming Tourism’s growing role as a key driver of GDP and Community empowerment.
He applauded the Tourism Patron and Hospitality Industry Her Excellency The First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa, for transforming the initiative into a Nationwide movement that has ignited both Domestic and International Tourism. The programme continues to spur a surge in Restaurants and Traditional food outlets across the country, showcasing Zimbabwe’s diverse culinary heritage.
The competition reflected a Nation reclaiming its culinary narrative, positioning Gastronomy Tourism as a vibrant bridge between Culture and Tourism business advancing His Excellency President Cde.Dr. E. D. Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030 through Inclusive growth and strengthened partnerships among local producers and key players across the Tourism value chain.
