As Zimbabwe continues to advance its Tourism growth through a Heritage-Based strategy, the 2026 Amai’s Traditional Cook-Out Competition transformed Kwekwe Polytechnic College into a vibrant theatre of Zimbabwean Culture. Officiated by the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Hon Tongai Mnangagwa, the event reaffirmed Tourism as a cornerstone of National Development, with Gastronomy Tourism emerging as a powerful driver of Inclusive growth. Championing the vision of the Tourism Patron Her Excellency The First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa and aligned to His Excellency The President Cde. Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030, the initiative continues to empower women, youths, persons with disabilities and communities, while preserving Zimbabwe’s Cultural identity and positioning the country as a unique culinary destination.
The competition concluded on a high note, marking yet another milestone in promoting Zimbabwe’s Culinary Heritage as a key Tourism asset. Participants showcased exceptional creativity through an irresistible fusion of flavours, from guava yoghurt to watermelon baobab milk punch and delicate watermelon soufflés, each dish telling a compelling story of Zimbabwe’s evolving gastronomy landscape. The Deputy Minister underscored that Gastronomy remains a unique selling point for the Nation, serving as a bridge between tradition and modern Tourism.
