ZPCS Midlands Province Prisons Cook Out Competition

The Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Hon Barbara Rwodzi today presided over the ZPCS Midlands Province Prisons Cook Out Competition. The event took place at Kwekwe prisons. Twenty (20) inmates comprised of 12 men and 8 women drawn from the Midlands prisons were competing, showcasing their culinary skills. The contestants prepared various traditional dishes including the Zimbabwean signature dish known as “hiyifiridzi” and a peculiar dish which reflected the unique natural endowments of the Province.
Knowlege Chirenje from Kwekwe prisons scooped the first prize, followed by Rose Saithi from Shurugwi prisons. The 3rd prize went to White Tahungai from Connemara open prisons. However every participant received a humper courtesy of the First Lady, Dr. Auxillia Mnangagwa.
Hon Rwodzi commended the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution – Midlands Province, Hon Owen Ncube for taking gastronomy tourism to the prisons inline with the President’s leaving no one and no place behind mantra.
The event was graced by several government officials from various MDAs.
