ZTA – NETONE Sign Tourism Digital Transformation Partnership

Digital transformation has become a defining pillar for competitive Tourism destinations, making it imperative for Zimbabwe to embrace Innovation that enhances efficiency, strengthens regulation and elevates Tourists experiences in line with Vision 2030.

In a bold stride toward a fully digitalized Tourism ecosystem, the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry through the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) has signed a landmark partnership with NetOne, advancing the digital thrust of National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2) through ICT integration, data-driven systems and devolved operations. Guided by His Excellency President Mnangagwa’s whole-of-government approach, this collaboration positions Tourism as a tech-driven engine for job creation, enhanced global destination branding and the realization of an upper-middle-income economy.

Under this initiative, NetOne donated 50 computers, 35 printers, Wi-Fi hotspots at Tourist resorts and offices and co-branding and visibility at selected strategic spots across the country, while POTRAZ contributed 20 laptops, collectively strengthening operational capacity across the Tourism sector.

The partnership reinforces ZTA’s role as a national enabler by introducing digitalized inspection systems, real-time regulatory oversight and improved nationwide efficiency, while unlocking opportunities to harness the National AI Strategy for predictive analytics and innovation. The signing ceremony was attended by the Permanent Secretary for Ministry of ICT Dr B Chirume, Chief Director in the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Ms T. Musonza, ZTA Board Chairman Mr F. Chimba, ZTA Chief Executive Officer Dr George Manyaya, NetOne Chief Finance Officer Mrs N. Nyambuya and other stakeholders underscoring strengthened Whole of Government Approach to grow both the Tourism and Communications sectors and boost GDP contribution.
