ZTA team travelled to Kariba for the Post COVID-19 Tourism Impact Assessment Workshop

The ZTA team travelled to Kariba for the Post COVID-19 Tourism Impact Assessment Workshop, led by the IMD Exec Director Mr Manjengwa & Mr Munamba priseded over the engagement successfully as deliberations went well.
The Ministry was represented as well as our partners BDO. Various categories of operators were represented from boat operators to hotels and lodges.
Strategies identified by operators to revive the tourism sector in and around Kariba include but are not limited to:

  • Promote Domestic Tourism more to the same levels as International tourism.
  •  To improve signage as a short term strategy.
  • Harmonizing laws to do with tourism e.g Parks pay levy to ZTA yet we fall under the same Ministry.
  •  To have a one-stop-shop where all payments to do with Tourism are done.
  • To have an enabling environment to do business such as connectivity either by road or by air as well as telecommunications.

Covid-19 Impact assessment workshops will continue in Masvingo province this week then Vic Falls next week.
