Ndebele Culture

Ndebele Culture

The Ndebele people originated from one of the Nguni tribes, which settled in Southern Africa and evolved into a number of different tribes over the centuries including Zimbabwe. They are well known for their artistic skills, colorful designs on the exterior of their homes, outstanding craftsmanship, distinctive and highly colorful modes of dress which have long been known for their beadwork and ornamentation. In Zimbabwe, the Ndebele represents the second-largest ethnic group and Bulawayo is their hub city. Visit Silunguzi Matopos Cultural Village in Bulawayo and experience their culture where you interact with the Ndebele people and come to test their community’s local foods to savor.
