Yesterday The Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Hon Barbara Rwodzi conducted a lecture on Tourism and the Economy at the Zimbabwe Staff College in Harare. In her presentation Hon Minister Rwodzi explicitly stated the Mandate of Ministry, Programming strategy and Tourism and Development clusters, Tourism policy, Tourism and Hospitality Doctrine which has seen the Ministry adopting a Heritage-Based Tourism and Hospitality Industry inorder to leverage our natural endowments.
The Minister also touched on the Industry’s Performance where she indicated that,In 2023 Tourism receipts were USD1.16 Billion which rose to USD1.20 Billion in 2024. Investment in the tourism industry rose from USD172 million in 2023 to USD191 million in 2024. Hon B. Rwodzi highlighted that all the Ministry’s operations are directed by the President’s national vision, constitution and the Tourism and Hospitality Policy.
The presentation was done to the JCSC number 38 which has a total of 76 students, amongst them are 18 Allied students from 11 African countries which include Nigeria,Kenya, SouthAfrica, Zambia etc. The Minister gifted the students with the Zimbabwe National Fabric after the session.
