Tourism Sector Commemorates Tourism Day

Today, Zimbabwe joined the rest of the world, as it celebrated the World Tourism Day at Tugwi Mukosi Dam in Masvingo.

The World Tourism day is observed every year to celebrate tourism’s growth and achievements in recent times. This year, the agenda – surrounding the international celebration – is centered around the theme ‘Rethink Tourism.’

The Deputy Minister of Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Honourable Barbara Rwodzi, emphasised the importance of inclusivity in tourism the sector and said the focus should be on women and other marginalised groups that could benefit from the tourism industry, while ensuring the industry’s growth does not come at the expense of people or planet.

Minister of Pronvincial Affairs and Devolution Hon Andrew Chadzamira was represented by Permanent Secretary at tge celebrations. Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry PS Raphael Faranisi, ZTA Chairman Ray Mawerera, TBCZ President Wengai Nhau and the CEO Paul Matamisa also attended.
